Where did the horny toad go?

A lot of Okies recall seeing, catching and playing with ‘horny toads’ as kids, but most of us don’t see them anymore.  Even sadder is the fact that so many don’t wonder where they went and I guess some don’t care.  Oklahoma City resident Stefanie Leland cares and has produced a 74-minute documentary titled Where Did The Horny Toad Go?

The film will be featured at the deadCenter Film Festival on Saturdy night, June 9, at the Harkins Theater in Bricktown in OKC.  Leland grew up in Canute and has a degree in biology from Southwestern State University.  She hopes to raise awareness of the plight of the Texas Horned Lizard aka ‘horny toad’.  Leland was quoted that she hopes the film will “open up the idea of conservation of our native wildlife.”  We wish Stefanie the best with her documentary and conservation efforts.

  1. Glad to know about the film. Maybe we can bring it to Ponca City. We were delighted to have a horny toad run across the road in front of us at the Tall Grass Prairie last week. Judy Basham, Ponca City
